Ms. O'Blenes' Class

Ms. O'Blenes' Class
Hi everyone, just to remind you that homework folders are due this Wednesday since we are having a short week. The will also be having their spelling test tomorrow. Also, I sent a few sheets home today with the students. One was about skating, another was a list of web sites I would recommend you use at home with the students or at the library. Two of the sites are Tumblebooks and Brainpop which have been paid for you to use already and the user names and passwords are on the sheet. Please feel free to use them as much as possible they are wonderful sites. The third sheet was a list of nominated books in this years Hackmatack program that our class is involved in. Please incourage your children to read any of these books over the year. They also have a math project due Friday Oct. 23 and the outline is in their homework books.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy your long break!

Miss Gorman's Class

Our class will be introduced to their first spelling list tomorrow. This list should be looked at each night. The focus this year will be words with a prefix and/or suffix. Helping your student to pick out the prefix and suffix in each word should help them to be able to spell them correctly. The test will be next Wednesday, October 7th.

There will be no school next Thursday and Friday (Oct. 8th and 9th) as teachers are in meetings. There will also be no school on the following Monday (Oct. 12th) as it is Thanksgiving. You get a five day weekend grade four! I know you will come back anxious to learn!

Students have been completing a weekly Math quiz that has been going home with them. Please look for these tests each week, they are to be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the school. (They probably will not have one this week as I have been out sick)

Thanks!

Miss Gorman

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Hello and welcome back to another school year at Forest Hills School. We just wanted to update you on a very important note, we do have students in the English grade five class’ this coming year with SEVERE NUT ALLERGIES. So to keep everyone safe both English and Intensive French grade five rooms will be “NUT FREE ROOMS” for the full school year. This will be effective from the very first day of school, Tuesday September 8, 2009. If you have any questions or concerns about nut allergies or our classroom environment please feel free to call your classroom teacher or the Administration. Please DO NOT send your child to school with any snacks or food that may contain nuts. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
